Michelle Sung Wie (born October 11, 1989) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour. In 2006, she was named in a Time magazine article, one of 100 people who shape our world. Wie began playing golf at the age of four. Upon turning professional at age 15 she said, The first time I grabbed a golf club, I knew that I d do it for the rest of my life. In 2002, Wie won the Hawaii State Open Women s Division by thirteen shots over LPGA player Cindy Rarick; Wie has long attracted attention for her height; she reached a height of 6 1 by her midteens. Prior to the 2009 season, Wie was not a member of any professional tour. In March 2008, it was reported that Wie was dating Stanford men s basketball star Robin Lopez, Wie has employed at least nine caddies since her father stopped caddying for her in 2004. Some fans and media have commented that Wie has increasingly dressed in inappropriate clothing during golf tournaments.
